Juggler’s Mural – George St, Brisbane

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I was lucky enough to be contacted by Juggler’s Artspace a couple of weeks ago about taking part in a mural, out the front of the construction site for what will soon become the new Supreme Court building. There was about ten of us there and it was great to see such a variety of styles and meet some new people, so a big thanks to Peter and they guys at Juggler’s for organising it all. Heres a few shots I took after I’d finished my piece.

This was my piece, simple greyscale image of an overly happy judge! All done with acrylics and brushes.

Thom Yorke

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

In a bid to fill out my folio with some more variety, I opted to do this piece based on Thom Yorke’s album, The Eraser. Just like all his work with Radiohead, I can listen to this album over and over. While this piece is a fair bit different to my usual style, it was really enjoyable, and I’ll probably use a similar technique again soon.

Push

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I finally got around to checking out Push on DVD over the weekend (twice in fact) and loved it. Its got a great feel to it, crazy super powers, over the top (in a good way) effects and a pretty cool story. I’m really hoping theres a few more to come. After watching the movie I was pretty pumped to do a drawing based on it (movies always seem to inspire me to create art, but I rarely follow through). While trying to think of what to draw, my mate Andrew busted out a giant scream in an attempt to unleash his inner bleeder. That was all I needed to whip up this guy …

Fly on the Wall

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Despite the thunder and lightning getting thrown around last night, I headed down to The Fort to check out the “Fly on the Wall” show, featuring SOFLES, LISTER, SAIKOE, BLIGS, YUIN HUZ and GLOUCESTER. It was kept to just the front two rooms of the Fort, but there was an amazing amount of quality art there, so much colour everywhere. The paint spilled from one canvas to the next, across the walls and really needs to be seen in person. The show is up til Feb 18 so make sure you check it out!
